NDIS Support
Si has been an NDIS Support Worker in Melbourne since 2019, specialising in supporting Participants with psychosocial disabilities and ASD. I work within the NDIS Guidelines and the support I can offer will depend on the Goals and the Plan.
My objective is to reduce feelings of overwhelm created when it feels like there is just too much to get done, or there are roadblocks. I understand how being neuro divergent can impact the ability to perform certain tasks. I work with Participants based on their current situation, abilities, stressors and disability.
Typically I have been supporting Participants with the following tasks:
- Making and actioning a To Do List
- Assisting with all life administration and helping to keep these tasks on track
- Support with communication with the wider community and communicating on behalf of the Participant if needed
- Assisting with tasks, minor and complex, and organising for things to get done
- Searching for better options
- Coordinating a move
- Act as a sounding board for decisions big or small
- Assistance with applications and follow up
For Support Coordinators and Plan Managers, my supports will typically fall under:
- Assistance in Coordinating and Managing Life Stages, Transition and Supports,
- High Intensity Support – Access Community, Social and Rec. Activities,
- or various other Core Support line items.
With decades of personal and lived experience working with people with mental health issues, working with NDIS Participants was a natural progression. My approach may differ slightly from other Support Workers. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and over 30 years experience in the corporate world, my strengths lie in developing relationships, researching and resourcing, administration and communication. I absolutely love working in this field because my passion is to help make the lives of amazing people better.
I adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct and will ensure the Participant always has Choice and Control. I have also completed the NDIS compliant ready program through the Healthcare Providers Association and do ongoing training to keep up to date with the NDIS guidelines. I hold an NDIS Workers Screening Check (Worker ID: 809 913 11), have a current Police Check, Working With Children Check, and a First Aid and CPR Certificate.
I am able to support Self Managed and Plan Managed Participants.
